it’s about shaping experiences, fostering connections, and enriching communities."

DEPTFORD

POP- UP PROJECT

PROJECT BRIEF

This project involved designing a pop-up installation tailored for the community of Deptford. Deptford is a neighbourhood located in southeast London within the London Borough of Lewisham on the south bank of the River Thames.

The space is thoughtfully divided into three key sections: a pottery studio, an exhibition/display area, and a museum, each serving a unique purpose.

The pop-up aims to foster social engagement, support financial development, and promote skill and knowledge enhancement, creating an interactive and enriching experience for the local community of Deptford.

DESIGNING FOR COMMUNITY

Through this project, I explored the role of design in community development. The pop-up installation was conceived as a recreational hub for the residents of Deptford, addressing the lack of engaging activities in the borough.

Extensive research revealed Deptford’s rich history with pottery and clay, which became the foundation for the design. By integrating these cultural elements, the pop-up allowed the community to reconnect with their local heritage while fostering creativity and engagement.
